How to stop the Android OS from using background data?

OPEN the Mobile data inside settings :
Use the options key inside the menu (mine one is the extreme left of the capacitive touch hardware keys) and select restrict background data (as it doesn't works particularly/selectively on just #ANDROID OS)
Select OK
Alternatively you could also open up Google Services and Google Play store to restrict their background data, if you want other apps to still use data
Restrict Background Data by checking the tickbox
